Thanks to Llangollen Town FC for their report of this game.
"Town continued their 100 per cent away record with a hard ought 3-1 victory at The Ring on Friday evening . Llay proved what a tough side they will be this season with an experienced side blended with a sprinkling of youth .
Simon Williams gave us the lead after 23 minutes with a superb strike from the edge of the area . Tom Belton had no chance of stopping Williams' rocket strike . Llay had their own chances and Gareth Rhys Roberts twice came close to equalising .
We increased our lead after 65 minutes when Williams added to his tally with a 25 yard free kick which flew into the top corner . Llay equalised within 3 minutes , with Town reduced to 10 men while Alex Doyle received treatment for a bloody nose , Matty Harrison netted from close range after a poorly cleared corner .
Roberts again tested the Llan back four and Mark Lunt and Simon Williams both struck the woodwork as we tried to close the game out . The points were secured when Sam Marrs long throw was finished well by Mark Lunt for his first goal of the season .
Not many sides will go to the Welfare and secure all 3 points this seaosn so all in all a good nights work ."
