Thanks to Phil Jones and the Leader for their take on Welfare's weekend results.....

Llay Welfare knew they had a game on their hands against a youthful looking Brickfield Rangers who took an early lead through Aaron Jones on his debut and he really does seem to be a fine capture. Jack Mountford managed to level and then playing with the wind, Jack Edwards got the last touch on an in-swinging corner. Llay made the points safe when Tom Wells converted a late penalty.

Brickfield Rangers slumped to a 4-2 reversal against Llay Welfare despite Mike Canning and Rhys McDermott giving them some hope. Tipping the scales Welfare’s way were Lee Phelan, Huw Jones and Steve Gadie who added to an own goal.

In the Reserves & Colts League Cup, Llay Welfare Colts secured a passage into the next round courtesy of late strikes from Matt Grundy and James Towey. A Leon Whitley penalty had given Saltney the lead on 66 minutes.
