First team Manager Steve O'hara gives his opinion on the Hawarden game.....

Coming off the away trip to Corwen where we performed really well without getting anything, we faced fourth placed Hawarden who themselves may of felt they deserved more against Gresford at the weekend.

We were back to full strength with good options on the bench. We started well and only for a fine save by their keeper would of taken the lead in the opening few minutes. But as has been happening to us of late it was the visitors who took the lead mid way through the first half, where I thought we could of been a bit tighter to the player who bent the ball into the far corner.

But as I've been saying in the last few games our performances have been getting stronger and stronger and in the second half we showed exactly that. We stepped up the tempo and really took the game to Hawarden, playing some great stuff and creating clear cut chances.

We came close through John Ryhs Edwards with a spectacular lob from way out that narrowly missed the target. Then we drew level from a corner, a header at the near post which seemed to come off the defender's head and into the net. They then had a 10 minute spell where we were on the back foot but excellent defending prevented them from scoring again. We created several more chances and on another day we could and should of taken all three points.

It was a fantastic performance from the lads, probably the best since I've been back at the club and players are starting to understand their roles within the team.

We travel to Ruthin on Saturday who sit 3rd in the league so it will be another good measuring stick to see exactly where we are in our progression

Thanks for the support again from the people who were there.

Thanks
Steve Ohara
